Lieutenant General ret.

Andreas

Hoppe

Co-Founder & Senior Managing Partner

Professional

Professionally, LtGen (ret) Hoppe stands for leadership at the intersection of force structure, readiness, reserve development, airpower and strategic transformation. He was one of the leaders of the project group “Struktur Bundeswehr,” which developed recommendations for the restructuring of the armed forces, and that as VCHOD he was responsible for reserve affairs in the context of national and alliance defence.

All of this is precisely where his profile aligns with Bravo Six: he brings operator-level credibility, ministerial and force-structure experience, a deep understanding of defence transformation, and the ability to translate strategic military requirements into practical resilience and security thinking for demanding defence-related environments.

Personal

LtGen (ret) Andreas Hoppe, born 1965 as son of an Air Force officer, combines operational credibility, institutional depth, and strategic composure in a profile shaped by senior air and defence leadership. At the beginning of his officers career, he studied electrical engineering, then qualified as a fighter-pilot with training in the US and in UK, and served in flying assignments including Tornados at Jagdbombergeschwader 34 in Memmingen and Eurofighter Typhoon during his tour as Commanding Officer Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 31 “Boelcke” in Nörvenich.

Over the course of his career, LtGen (ret) Hoppe progressed through command, staff, and ministerial roles at the highest levels of the Bundeswehr. After completing the General Staff course from 1997 to 1999, he served as squadron commander at Jagdbombergeschwader 31 “Boelcke”, later as adjutant to the then Vice Chief of Defence, then as Commanding Officer of Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 31”Boelcke”, followed by ministerial and force-development appointments including Head of the Air Division within Luftwaffentruppenkommando and Deputy Head of the department for Military Strategy, Operations and Planning in the Ministry of Defence. In April 2024 he became Vice Chief of Defence (VCHOD) and, with that role, also Commissioner for Reserve Affairs and retired from that post in 2025.
