As a Staff Sergeant and Sniper Leader within his Jäger Battalion, he has led high-performing teams in demanding, fast-moving environments, with a proven record in reconnaissance, target acquisition, and precision engagement across modern land operations.

His professional focus sits at the intersection of reconnaissance, effects, and emerging technology. He integrates specialist capabilities with reconnaissance assets, fires, and command structures to deliver adaptive, effects-based solutions, and brings extensive hands-on experience in unmanned aerial systems and counter-UAS — both the operational employment of drones for reconnaissance and target acquisition and the detection, identification, and defeat of hostile systems. Through this work he has built an extended network across the innovation scene of the German Armed Forces, connecting operational practitioners with technology developers, procurement, and experimentation initiatives to accelerate the adoption of new capability.

Across his service he has paired operational leadership with capability development and specialist instruction, qualifying as a sniper instructor, marksman instructor, and UAV operator, and training in Joint Fires and military target acquisition. In 2023 he deployed as a squad and team leader on the United Nations MINUSMA mission in Mali, coordinating across national contingents in a multinational operational environment. Raised in Bremerhaven, Germany, Murat Günes joined the German Armed Forces in 2018. Following his initial assignments within his Jäger Battalion, he developed into a specialist leader in sniper operations and reconnaissance before bringing this experience to Bravo Six.
